Theresa, I am so excited to share a “Good Fence” post. I took these photos Sunday at Jonathan Dickinson State Park near Hobe Sound, Florida.
It looks like a very old barbed wire fence. Sitting proudly on the fence post is a Loggerhead Shrike.

Until next time…

that’s really beautiful!!! the fence, itself, is great, but add the shrike (which i’ve never seen in person!) and it’s perfect. 🙂 thanks, sheila!
I was truly excited to be able to have a “Good Fence” photo! It is a beautiful old barbed wire fence; I will have to go take a better look at it.
I hope you get to see a Shrike; it is always fun to have something to look forward to not the mention the challenge of the hunt!
Thanks for hosting “Good Fences” and what a wonderfu idea it is!
That’s a real old wire 🙂
And together with that cute bird it’s perfect 😀
Have a fine day

What a wonderful bird to capture on a lovely fence post.
The Shrike is a beautiful bird and a very good hunter! I usually see them here in Jonathan and it is always nice if I am able to capture them. Thanks for stopping by! 😉
These kind of fences make my heart happy….. Great job!
Don’t they though, I feel the same way. There is a lot of history within this park and I just wonder how old this fence is. Thank you Shug! Hope to chat with you again.
Gorgeous image, Sheila. Both fence and bird are very photogenic. 🙂
Hi Sylvia, it is always nice to hear from you! Thank you for your kind words. Hope you are enjoying these warm, sunny Florida days!
Love the barbed wire and the Shrike. Awesome photos. Have a great evening!
Thanks Eileen! It is fun and hard (for me) to find good fences worthy of posting a photo of; I was very glad to get this one. Hope you are doing well, it sure looks like you are from all the beautiful photos you are posting. I have one for Saturday’s Critters tomorrow!
I totally agree with Eileen. Great images!
Hi Dina; it is so wonderful to hear from you. I hope you are doing well! Thank you so much for your kind words; hope to chat with you soon. 🙂
You have a great eye Sheila! I also love taking pictures of fences…lucky you to be in the right place at the right time and catch the Loggerhead Shrike.
Hi Gay, I was in the right place at the right time. We were standing near the entrance to the park waiting to be pick-up by family. I knew the Shrikes like to hang out between the park boundary and Highway 1. I had my camera with me and noticed the bird flying down to the ground and back up to the fence post and I knew I had a “Good Fences” photo! Always great to chat with you!
I’ll never be a birder but I love this bird just for its name. Beautiful photo!
Hi Yogi! Thank you very much and thanks for stopping by. 🙂
