When we visited Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, at the beginning of April, we spotted a flock of Ibis pictured in the photos above (these look like Glossy). ?? We only had time to visit for one day and it turned out to be a cloudy day. The cloudy day makes for an interesting photo of these seemingly dark colored birds.
Later in the month, when we stopped at Bottomless Lakes State Park near Roswell, New Mexico and visited Bitter Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, we got to see the White-faced Ibis.
These photos are from Bitter Lakes National Wildlife Refuge.

Photos below taken at Bitter Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, Roswell, New Mexico and depicts what the area looks like. I will post a few additional bird photos from Bitter Lakes actually showing the lakes.

Enjoy the journey and live in the now!
I hate to rain on your parade, but I think those are probably white-faced ibis. 🙂
Good Morning Judy, rain away!!! I should be rained on. I should have read that the white-faced has red eyes!
Thanks!
Thanks again for pointing this error out!!
Such beautiful birds, and they certainly look very glossy to me. 🙂
Hi Sylvia, glossy they are and pretty!
Love the glossy ibis! This was another bird it took me awhile to find during our FL travels.
Judy, is right! White-faced. It was fun seeing so many at one time!
I’d have to agree with Judy… I think they’re White-faced Ibis…. but they sure are glossy! We’ve been to Bitter Lake a few times… even worked the Dragonfly Festival one year…. Steve took us on a great tour of the refuge. I love that area and love seeing your photos that bring back good memories.
I love the Dragonfly Trail. I bet the festival was great fun! I wanted to go into the visitor center and pick up some books on Dragonflies, but it was closed!
Hello, Sheila,
I came to your lovely Wolf Song Blog (and I love its name) after seeing a comment you left at Ingrid’s “Live Laugh RV blog. I know I’ll enjoy visiting Wolf Song again!
Hello! I am delighted that you have visited my blog. We share a lot in common! Please visit often! Ingrid has a beautiful blog which I truly enjoy.
Not many people agree, but I began following the reintroduction of the wolf into Yellowstone around 1990. I have seen the Druid Peak Pack and believe the wolf is part of the natural environment. So the name of my blog comes from my experience all those years ago.
Thank you!

Hi Michelle! Yes, the Bitter National Wildlife Refuge is a beautiful habitat. I have been there twice, both times in April and it is pretty quite by then. I would love to see it filled with migrating birds!
Sheila….watch out!! It’s Darth Vader’s Stealth Attack Team!! May the force be with you🙋🙋
Hi Barb! Wonderful to hear from you! I also think it is Darth Vader’s Stealth Attack Team! They look deadly don’t they?
Enjoying your blog! Spring is on its way!
Gosh, it was a toss up between 2 and 3 but I’ll go with 3 LOL. Gorgeous shots of a unique bird.
