Judy, I hope to see you there next year. It has been a wonderful two days of birding! I wish we had more days! We drove to Rollover Bay toward (the Galveston Ferry) and saw 100’s of birds – one Reddish-Egret doing his thing; Marbled Godwits, Willets, Short-billed Dowitchers, Egrets, Skimmers, and Avocets – seemed like 100’s of Dowitchers and Avocets! Spectacular! The Rookery is receiving more and more birds everyday! It is so much fun to watch these birds! It is a very special area.
Hi Ingrid! The Spoonbills, Egrets and Cormorants were all just gorgeous! Fun time to bird! I hope you are doing well and having fun. We are heading home, a tad early, beginning in the morning. Perhaps I will see you this summer!!! 😉
Great shots. I really had to look for the first one, he definitely fits in with his surroundings. Love the colors of the second one. Nature really does have the most wonderful subtle colors.
I was hoping you would stop at High Island and visit the different birding areas. The Houston Audubon Society does a great job in maintaining this area. The best time is now and in the fall to see the migration.
Great capture of the waterthrush. I miss High Island.

I love the Roseate Spoonbill! They are just gorgeous!!
They are certainly beautiful in their breeding plumage! Gorgeous colors!
This looks like my kind of place to look for birds! If we ever return to Texas we will stop there for sure.

Sheila, if I had known about it when we passed through there we would have stopped. Thanks for letting me know about it. Love your photos!
