I have four/five Blue Jays competing for peanuts, suet, and seeds with the Scrub Jays. Both can be aggressive. I took these photos on November 19th.

We had a light snowfall during the night and today’s high temperatures are in the twenties.

Devil Backbone Natural Area, one mile to the west of us. The snow adds a dramatic effect to the landscape.

~Devil’s Backbone

Long ago it rose,

its majestic beauty,

graces the sky,

home to many…

soaring hawks,

howling coyotes,

wild rabbits,

slithering snakes,

all are welcome.

Lichen on boulders,

showy patterns of life,

some more colorful than others.

Naked without their leaves,

displaying their strong soul,

waiting for spring.
