Sheila’s Bird Shots ~ Swainson’s Hawk ~
On August 3, 2013, I spotted this beautiful Swainson’s Hawk, sitting high on a utility pole, scouting for lunch near a Prairie Dog community.
A little later it flew to a different pole. I could tell from the poop these must be favorite spots to scout for prey.
(Light and location wasn’t the best, but you take the shot and see what you get.)

All the photos are good considering shooting up into the light but I really like the effect of the sepia! You see a lot of detail in that photo. Great!
Hey K,
Hope things are going well!! Your camera should arrive on Monday!
Yes, the photos were fun to take; the closer I got the louder the hawk would tell me to go away. I did not want to get too close and continue upsetting it. It was beautiful!
The sepia does show the detail well.
he’s lovely!
